Welcome to my 'Sparkly' Journey! I need to apologize from the start because I am NOT a writer...yes 'Rann I see you nodding in agreement. :) My spelling is awful and my grammar is worse but I'm inspired to share my experiences, especially the in the last couple of years, in hopes that it will touch everyone to find their path.
In recent weeks I have posted on YouTube and Facebook about my spiritual journey and holistic/metaphysical healing passion. Yes, I am a Reiki Practitioner studying to be a Reiki Master/Teacher - I'll take that class next month, but long before energy healing came into my life I worked in the fitness industry so in many ways it has was the beinging of my path.
I have spent the past 20 plus years helping people connect to their body. Part of it started when I spent a month being partially paralyzed, April 1990. The only thing that the doctors were able to determine is that I had one full length artiers in my left leg and that one of the specialists I saw believed I'd NEVER walk again or if I did I'd be in a wheelchair by 30 years old. Just to clear things up...I'm over 30 and I am NOT in a wheelchair but best of all do I walk, run, swim, jump, climb and rarely sit down.
A major life lesson I learned from that experience was no matter what a doctor tells you the only person who controls what happens in my health was going to be me. I remember looking at the very optimistic doctor (NOT) and telling him he could be in a wheelchair not me...I don't think he took to kindly to a 19 year old questioning his prognosis but I really didn't care because I wasn't rolling over to his negative comment and accepting his opinion as my destiny. After that I started exercising and learning more about my body which quickly turned into a water fitness instructor. That progressed into more and more certifications - the list is OMG long...bottom-line my last fitness cert was personal trainer. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE all the health and fitness stuff I have accomplished and truly find/found inspiration in my clients but it wasn't enough hence all the certifications, oh yeah, and a degree that I don't really use but proves I am trainable.
What really opened my heart up to my life's path was a couple of years ago my soul was awaken by a wonderful friend...a 'soul sister'. The day I met her a flood gate cracked opened and over a couple of months the doors flew open washing over me an abundance of knowledge. I knew what I needed to do, what I wanted to do and that I was going to be able to accomplish it...what a liberating feeling. In some ways it's scary because anything out of the social 'norm' can be intimidating but overall it is exciting and I'm thankful to be surrounded by a strong spiritual community that keeps growing and growing in our area but mostly to have a wonderfully supportive husband open to what I'm pursuing and doing. Our kids think it's pretty cool as well!!
So, this is about lessons learned...here are a few I have taken to heart
I have learned that only I have control over my health, happiness and wellness
I have learned that the only person who can make you angry is you
I have learned that you are not too old, dated or out of touch to learn new things about technology
I have learned that there is a lot to be said about the 'old ways' when it comes to living your life
I have learned that love is free to give and wonderful to receive
I have learned that when you try focusing on what you can't change you miss out on what you can
I have learned that being myself makes me a much happier person allowing me to be a better wife, daughter, sister, mom and friend.
I have also learned that my friends and family enjoy my sparkles and that it's okay to let them shine!
It's only too late once you have left this side of the dirt
If you are living life you are always learning. The good, bad and the ugly are full of lessons it's what we do with those lessons that will determine the outcome. Think of it like this if you are always looking for the next bad thing to occur then it will consistently happen and you will feel like bad luck follows you everywhere. If you focus your energy on the moment you are in and drink up all the good around you then those bad things appears as hiccups instead of mountains. Then again, even mountains are meant to be climbed...just think how FANTASTIC the view is once you get to the top!
Hugs, Love, Laughter & Light!
